ß-Carotene is a precursor to vitamin A. As such, equinova® Betacarotilyt can compensate for the high vitamin A requirements of breeding horses and foals.

Targeted supplementation of ß-carotene improves the increased requirements for an adequate supply of vitamin A during the last third of pregnancy and during lactation. Vitamin A is particularly important for a sufficient amount of colostrum and thus for the foal’s supply of nutrients. A foal’s vitamin A content depends on the content in the milk it consumes, as a foal does not have its own reserves in its liver.

Feeding Recommendation

Per animal per day (~1322.77 lb live weight):

Mares: 50 g → 0.11 lb
Stallions: 50 g → 0.11 lb

Feeding schedule:

Stallions: Feed during the breeding season
Mares: Feed from 2 weeks before to 2 weeks after insemination, and from 1 month before foaling until the end of the 2nd month of lactation
